Terms of Service

Effective date: to be set on publication.

These terms ("Terms") govern your use of SnapCard — the flashcard study app for NEET Biology (the "Service"). SnapCard is operated by Snapcard Labs LLP ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not create an account and do not use the Service.

These Terms reference our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. All three together describe the agreement between you and Snapcard Labs LLP.

1. Who can use SnapCard

You may use SnapCard if you are at least 13 years old and you are in India. If you are between 13 and 17, the law (DPDPA §9) requires your parent or guardian to give verifiable consent before your account becomes active. Our signup flow guides you through this.

If you are under 13, you cannot use SnapCard. We will close any account we identify as belonging to a user under 13 and delete the associated data.

If you are 18 or older, you can use SnapCard without parental consent, but you still need to accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

If you are a parent or guardian who confirmed consent for a child's account, you are responsible for supervising your child's use of the Service.

2. Your account

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your Google account secure. We do not store a password — you sign in with Google. If you suspect someone else has accessed your account, secure your Google account, sign out of all SnapCard sessions from the app, and email us.
  • The accuracy of the information you give us (your name, email, date of birth, billing details). We rely on what you tell us.
  • All activity that happens through your account.

We may suspend or close your account if you violate these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if your account has been inactive for an extended period (we will email you first).

3. What SnapCard does

SnapCard helps you study NEET Biology with flashcards. Specifically:

  • We give you hand-curated launch decks of NEET-relevant cards for free.
  • We let you generate flashcards from photos of NCERT pages using AI (Anthropic Claude). Free users get a monthly cap on AI generation; Pro users get more.
  • We run a spaced-repetition algorithm (SM-2) that schedules your reviews so you remember more, longer.
  • We track your progress and surface analytics about your own study patterns.

4. Free vs. Pro

We offer a free tier and a paid Pro subscription. The current pricing and what's included in each tier is shown on the /app/subscribe page in the app. We may change pricing for new subscriptions, but we will not change the price you are paying for a current billing period.

Pro subscriptions:

  • Bill through Razorpay, our payment partner.
  • Auto-renew at the end of each billing cycle unless you cancel.
  • Can be cancelled at any time from the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access until then.
  • Are subject to the Refund Policy.

GST is included in the price quoted to you.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any purpose other than your own NEET Biology studies.
  • Try to access another user's account, content, or data.
  • Scrape, crawl, or copy the Service or any part of it (including the hand-curated decks) for commercial resale or distribution.
  • Upload photos you do not have the right to use (e.g. copyrighted test-prep books that aren't NCERT, photos of other people without consent).
  • Use the AI card generator to produce content that is illegal, harmful, hateful, sexually explicit, or designed to harass.
  • Try to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the source code of the Service.
  • Use automated tools (bots, scripts) to interact with the Service beyond the publicly documented API endpoints.
  • Use the Service in any way that disrupts it for other users.

We may suspend your account immediately if we believe in good faith that you have done any of the above. For serious violations we may involve law enforcement.

6. Content you create

You retain ownership of the content you create on SnapCard — the flashcards you generate, the photos you upload, your study session data. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host that content and make it available to you across your devices, for as long as your account exists.

We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not share it with third parties beyond what is described in the Privacy Policy.

Photos you upload to the AI card generator are sent to Anthropic solely to generate cards. Anthropic does not use them to train their models. We delete the photos from our storage 30 days after upload.

7. Our content

The hand-curated launch decks, the structure of the app, the design, the trademarks, and the software itself are owned by SnapCard or our licensors. NCERT content used in our launch decks remains the property of NCERT; we use it under the basis of fair-use educational summary and do not claim ownership.

You may use our content only inside the Service, for your own studies. You may not copy, distribute, modify, sell, or publicly display it.

8. Service availability

We try to keep SnapCard available 24×7 but we don't guarantee it. We may take the Service offline for maintenance, upgrades, security incidents, or events outside our control. We are not liable for downtime, but if you are a Pro subscriber and SnapCard is materially unavailable for an extended period, contact us and we will work out a fair credit.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee:

  • That the AI-generated flashcards are factually correct. You should cross-check important facts against your textbook.
  • That using SnapCard will improve your NEET score or admission outcome. Your results depend on your effort, your underlying preparation, and many other factors outside our control.
  • That the Service is suitable for any specific medical, educational, or examination purpose other than general NEET Biology study.

The Service is not a substitute for proper schooling, qualified teachers, or NCERT textbooks. It is a study aid.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law:

  • SnapCard is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you, for any and all claims under these Terms, is capped at the amount you have paid us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event that gave rise to the claim. If you are a free user, this cap is ₹1,000.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited under Indian consumer-protection law.

11. Termination

You can close your account at any time from the Privacy screen in the app. When you do:

  • Your active subscription is cancelled at the end of the current billing period (no further charges).
  • We delete your personal data on the timeline described in the Privacy Policy §8.

We can terminate your account if you breach these Terms (notice + reasonable opportunity to fix, except for serious breaches where we may act immediately) or if required by law.

If your account is terminated, the sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive.

12. Changes to these Terms

When we change anything material in these Terms, we bump the POLICY_VERSION, send a notice to your account email, and ask you to re-consent the next time you open the app. If you continue using SnapCard after a material change, you accept the new Terms. Material changes do not apply retroactively.

We keep prior versions in the project's git history.

13. Governing law

These Terms and the Service are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of SnapCard is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Bhagalpur, Bihar.

Before going to court, please contact our Grievance Officer (see §15) and give us a reasonable chance to resolve the issue. Many disputes can be settled this way.
